Large breasts can cause back, neck, and shoulder pain, in addition to limited physical activity, painful bra strap indentations, and irritation or rash underneath the breast crease. Often the nipples become enlarged because of stretched skin, and they are positioned along or below the breast crease.
A Reduction Mammaplasty (Breast Reduction) procedure involves the removal of excess fatty tissue, glandular tissue, and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion to the body, and to alleviate discomfort associated with overly large breasts.
Incisions: The surgical technique used to reduce the size of the breasts involves making a circular incision around the areola through which breast tissue is removed. The skin is then brought together below the nipple and vertically down to the crease of the breast and horizontally underneath the crease. The areola can be reduced by trimming the perimeter and making it proportional to the reduced breast.
